8 WWE Monsters Who Had Their Push Killed By John Cena

4. Baron Corbin

Unlike the last entry, Cena's bad reputation was well-established at this point.

In the same year that long-tenured veteran The Undertaker put over Roman Reigns and Kane put over Braun Strowman, Cena was being booked to demolish the young talent. In fact, his rivalry with Baron Corbin could be the biggest farce of his lengthy career — and that's really saying something.

Corbin was a force to be reckoned with on SmackDown Live, dominating opponent after opponent and even winning the Money In The Bank contract, so you could say that everything was going well for the young monster... or at least it was, until he went up against Cena.

During the feud, Corbin ridiculously lost his Money In The Bank cash-in match against then-WWE Champion Jinder Mahal because Cena distracted him. Less than a week later at SummerSlam, he lost to 'Big Match John' in a one-on-one contest after a single Attitude Adjustment.

Though this booking was undeniably dreadful, it was Cena himself who buried Corbin - and he did it before the match was even over. 'The Leader of the Cenation' administered pathetic commentary throughout the match, telling us that Corbin was "shook". This just highlighted that not even he took his opponent seriously — so how the heck were we supposed to?

The feud stripped everything away from 'The Lone Wolf' and ultimately sent him back into limbo, but as bad as the story was, it was Cena's trivial approach to the match that truly destroyed any semblance of credibility that he had left.
