9 Current TNA Talent That Were In WWE NXT
1. The Wolves
Long before Triple H started scouting talent from the independents to recruit for NXT, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards were the among the first former Ring of Honor stars to be contacted about potentially coming into the promotion. They impressed officials at their tryout in August 2013 and were brought in to work a televised match with The Ascension, who were the then-NXT Tag Team champions.
As The American Pitbulls, Richards and Edwards had a good showing against the tag champions, but one botch from Richards that saw him land directly on his head was rumored to be one of the reasons why they weren't signed. It was WWE's loss, though, as they debuted in TNA a few months later and were inserted into the top storyline in the company at the time.
Over the last two years, The Wolves have amounted to great success with multiple reigns as World Tag Team champions to their credit. While Richards has been out for the better part of the year with an injury, Edwards has flourished as a singles competitor and has held the X-Division and TNA World Heavyweight Championships.
Whether their runs in NXT and/or WWE would have been as prosperous if everything went smoothly during their tryout is something fans will never know.
