9 Times WWE Killed A Popular Star In Less Than 60 Days

1. Cesaro

Cesaro, though by no means a main event star, is in a considerably better place now as part of The Bar than he was back in 2014. If Bad News Barrett and Bray Wyatt had had their legs cut out from under them, then Cesaro had a grenade thrown at his feet.

The goodwill of the WWE fan base towards Cesaro cannot be overstated. This is one of the best wrestlers on the roster, possessed of astonishing, almost supernatural reserves of strength, and with a whole case full of charisma to boot.

But WWE would rather completely waste his talents in mid-card tag team hell, or by jobbing to the stars. When the giant swing got over, WWE stopped him using it. When his music became dynamic and exciting, WWE turned it into a comedy tune, removing the massive air raid sirens and replacing them with warbling ambulance sirens. That’s like taking out Stone Cold’s breaking glass and replacing it with ripping paper.

Famously, Vince McMahon singled Cesaro out as one of those who wasn't grasping the proverbial 'brass rings', but few wrestlers on the roster have made as big a virtue of the limited opportunities they've been handed - with almost no reward.

If Cesaro is over as a babyface juggernaut – and he clearly was and could be again – then turn him babyface. Have him perform the near-miraculous feats he’s capable of in the ring, give him the ball and tell him to run with it. In other words, stop bloody wasting him.
