9 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (13 Sept - Results & Review)

1. Contract Signed, But Something Bigger Lurks…

Cody Rhodes Roman Reigns

Roman said he didn't even need Cody as a partner, "because this is family business". Then, he called SmackDown his show and said this is his WWE. Rhodes took exception to that. Those words grabbed him by the scruff and hauled him right back into the thick of a scenario he'd claimed to be finished with.

A tense showdown between 'Mania rivals followed before the Temu Bloodline showed up to interrupt. Roman inked the contract, Cody joined him, and the tag-team battle is set for Bad Blood. Something bigger lurks beneath that. One can sense there's still a bit of unfinished business between Reigns and Rhodes.

Could they get a third WrestleMania main event out of this?! That might be a stretch. If not, then this might be the protracted, 'Can I trust you, uce?' story heading into Survivor Series and the expected War Games civil war. As always, Roman being involved elevates SmackDown to 'A' show territory.

What a stunning sign off for the season premiere.
