9 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Apr 22)

4. Unbroken Matt Hardy

Broken Matt Hardy
AEW

It looks like Matt Hardy isn't going to be all broken, all of the time in AEW, with the veteran flipping out of his 'Damascus' form midway through a promo on Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle.

Broken Matt spoke about Jericho's refusal to respond to his invitation to an Elite Deletion at the Hardy Compound. With his Mower of Lawn in the background, Matt spoke on Sammy Guevara being the only IC member to have the testicles to even mention him, threatening to mash 'The Spanish God' down, turn him into a mofongo, and eat him. Then, he flipped the switch.

Regular old Matt Hardy emerged, cutting a solid, believable promo on Jericho that paid respect to The Elite, whom he called "the pillars of AEW." Hardy said that if Jericho knocks those pillars down, it creates chaos. He can't allow that. He's here to protect AEW and the future of the business, and would kick everyone in the Inner Circle's *ss until he gets hold of 'Le Champion.'

Here we have proof that Matt doesn't need the Broken gimmick to be an important guy in AEW. Perhaps this is a sign that he'll flip between the two now that he hasn't landed on Dynamite. Either way, the promo furthers what should be an important storyline ahead of Double or Nothing.
