9 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Dec 3rd)

7. Opening With Fireworks

It was interesting enough when it looked like Raw was going to open right away with a women’s tag match involving Ronda Rousey. But then we got an explosion of activity.

Rousey and Natalya were supposed to face Nia Jax and Tamina, but the Riott Squad intervened, resulting in a melee that ended with Nattie getting powerbombed off the apron and through a table. Nia and Tamina took out Ronda in the interim. It was a whirlwind that combined two angles nicely and set up Rousey’s search for a new partner.

Generally, getting away from the usual opening promo segment that is hit-or-miss is a good thing when it’s done well. This was a nice twist from the usual, even if it was a bait-and-switch on the tag match initially.
