9 Wrestlers Who Had Backstage Heat With Roman Reigns
4. CM Punk
Their recent interactions heading towards the 2024 Survivor Series War Games event proved that Roman Reigns and CM Punk are not good friends. Punk pitched the idea of The Shield to WWE, and Reigns wasn't in the mix when The Second City Saint made his proposal. Punk wanted Kassius Ohno in the group, but Triple H didn't see money in that and went with Roman Reigns instead.
Reigns and Punk worked several matches before the latter's exit in 2014, including a singles match on the 6 January 2014 episode of Raw, in which Reigns went over. Although Punk was not present when Reigns began his singles career in the company, his comments during his famous interview with Colt Cabana significantly impacted Reigns' career. Punk's remarks significantly contributed to the fans rejecting Reigns as a babyface.
It's safe to say that Reigns wasn't pleased with Punk's comments and harbored resentment over the years. During an interview with the Load Management Podcast in 2020, Reigns admitted that he does not like CM Punk but claimed that he would put business first and work with him if he had to. Reigns lived up to his words when Punk came in as the fifth member of his team at Survivor Series WarGames 2024.
