Lucha Libre giant Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) has announced that their second-annual Lucha Libre World Cup will take place in Mexico City's Palacio de los Deportes. The tournament will begin on June 3 and end on June 5.

Like last year, the trios tournament will be an eight-team, single-elimination affair. Each bout will have a 15-minute time limit, and if the time expires, each team will choose one member to compete in a five-minute sudden death singles showdown. There will be as many "sudden deaths" as necessary to determine a winner.

Multiple promotions will be sending teams to compete in the contest. In addition to AAA, confirmed leagues include Pro Wrestling NOAH, Lucha Underground, TNA, and Japanese women's promotions Pro Wrestling WAVE and OZ Academy. Last year's tournament featured involvement from Ring of Honor, but the company's involvement with New Japan (and by extension, AAA competitor CMLL) has precluded their participation this time around.

The first tournament was held over the course of two evenings last May and was broadcast on iPPV. In the finals, the Dream Team of El Patrón Alberto, Rey Mysterio, Jr., and Myzteziz defeated a joint TNA/Lucha Underground team of Matt Hardy, Mr. Anderson, and Johnny Mundo to score victory.
