AEW Announces World Trios Championship, Tournament To Crown New Champs
Inaugural champions to be crowned at All Out PPV in September.
After what seems like a lifetime of speculating and waiting, AEW finally announced Wednesday night the establishment of the World Trios Championship, and a tournament to crown the first champions at their All Out PPV in September.
During AEW Dynamite, the announcers displayed the new titles and the upcoming tourney, which was only revealed as "coming soon."
Trios titles are something fans have wanted for a long time, and AEW has fed into that desire with a glut of trios tag matches and a litany of stables that could conceivably compete for the titles.
Without even breaking a sweat, you can tick off a bunch of groups that could find their way into a tournament: Blackpool Combat Club, Jericho Appreciation Society, Death Triangle, the Elite (the Young Bucks could partner with a returning Kenny Omega or Adam Cole or Hangman Adam Page), the former Undisputed Era (if they're all healthy), House of Black, Dark Order and Best Friends.

We'll obviously find out more about the tournament and participants in the coming days, but at least the rumor mill about their existence can be retired.
