AEW Champion Chris Jericho's Full Gear Opponent REVEALED

Who challenges 'Le Champion' on 9 November?

Chris Jericho Cody
AEW

Chris Jericho will defend his AEW World Championship against Cody at the company's next pay-per-view, Full Gear, on 9 November.

AllEliteWrestling.com broke the story last night. Sports Illustrated, meanwhile, reached out to AEW President and CEO Tony Khan for full confirmation. He stated that "Cody's outstanding record in singles competition has secured him the number one contender ranking, and he will be challenging AEW World Champion Chris Jericho in the first-ever pay-per-view defence of his title."

Khan goes on, noting that 'The American Nightmare' won his shot by "remaining unbeaten in singles bouts, scoring pins on a pair of proven veterans, defeating his older brother, and beating bitter rival Shawn Spears at All Out." Though Cody drew with Darby Allin at Fyter Fest, it looks like AEW is already delivering on their promises that wins and losses will matter.

Cody's shot makes sense even if you take his record out of the equation, though, as he's consistently the most over performer on AEW's pay-per-views, never failing to come off like a bigger superstar than ever before.

Jericho vs. Cody joins the re-booked Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega clash on the Full Gear card.
