Hangman Page is the new number one contender for the AEW World Title.

Page won AEW's 'Grand Slam Golden Ticket Battle Royale' on Friday's bumper episode of Rampage by eliminating Rush. The match was also notable for featuring the All Elite returns of both Brian Cage and Lance Archer - ROH star Dalton Castle appeared as one of the entrants too.

Tony Khan handpicked Page to win it all though. Hangman is now locked in to challenge the AEW World Champ on the 18 October edition of flagship show Dynamite. Announcers Excalibur and Jim Ross made a lot of noise about whether or not Page would meet Jon Moxley or MJF on that show.

Of course, MJF is also due a title crack himself after pulling down the prize during All Out's 'Casino Ladder Match'. AEW's messy World Title situation peaked that same night when CM Punk memorably ranted during a post-pay-per-view presser, then scrapped with Kenny Omega/The Young Bucks before all involved were suspended.

Hangman previously enjoyed a 197-day stint as World Champ between November 2021-May 2022. He lost the belt to Punk at Double Or Nothing.
