AEW Double Or Nothing 2021: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

7. Hikaru Shida Retains

Tony Khan Orange Cassidy
AEW

Nightmare: That Hikaru Shida's year-long reign continues despite the fact that it's time to make a change and put the belt on a red hot Britt Baker. AEW's decision-makers may get cold feet and decide that they want to stick with Shida for a little while longer.

Chances Of Happening: Slim.

Baker's performance opposite Thunder Rosa on the 17 March Dynamite earned rave reviews, and it felt like a real game-changing moment for her AEW career. The dentist is someone Tony Khan should be building this division around now - not Shida. She's had her time in the sun, and is firmly established enough to survive without the belt.

It'd be rather crap if AEW went the swerve route and had Rebel cost Britt the chance to become champ (or something like that) too. This writer doesn't expect that'll happen, but it's hardly out of the question, especially if AEW would rather keep plodding on with Hikaru.
