AEW Dynamite crushed it in the ratings this week, coming through with notable increases in both the key 18-49 demographic and overall viewership.

The biggest story is the 9 September episode's viewership topping 1 million for the first time in 11 months. Dynamite pulled an average of 1.016 million viewers across its two hours, which is the show's best number since 13 October 2019 - its third week of operation. The figure represents a considerable increase on the previous week's 928,000.

Dynamite also hit big in the 18-49 demographic, improving from the previous week's 0.36 rating to 0.37. This is the show's best number since 12 January, when it hit 0.38, and is another reason to feel optimistic about the show's prospects going forward.

These numbers are particularly notable given the largely negative response to last week's All Out pay-per-view. AEW drew widespread criticism on Saturday 5 September, particularly for its handling of Matt Hardy's suspected concussion. That they still came through with great figures in spite of this is encouraging.

With both NXT and Dynamite flourishing unopposed, it is becoming increasingly clear that the Wednesday Night Wars must come to an end - for the betterment of the sport.
