AEW Full Gear 2021 To Be Moved?
AEW's November pay-per-view faces STIFF competition if it sticks to its current date.
All Elite Wrestling's next pay-per-view, All Out 2021, is locked in for this Sunday, 5 September, but the supercard after that faces intense competition from other combat sports.
Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez spoke on the possibility of Full Gear 2021 being moved from its planned 6 November date in St. Louis, Missouri, on today's episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, citing clashes with boxing and the UFC that evening.
A stacked UFC pay-per-view held in Madison Square Garden will feature two title fights on 6 November, including the long-awaited Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington rematch. In addition, Canelo Alvarez, the biggest draw in modern boxing, will fight Caleb Plant in Las Vegas.
AEW don't like clashing with other big sporting pay-per-views. While Full Gear's date and location were announced back in May, it may be in their best interest to consider switching to a different date.
There is precedent for this, too. Revolution 2021 was moved from its original 27 February date due to another Canelo clash, with AEW ruling out the possibility of Saturday 6 March as the UFC already had a show scheduled for that date. The pay-per-view ended up taking place on Sunday 7 March instead.
