2019 is not even a day old, yet the wrestling scene has already made a giant announcement.

After months of teasing, Cody Rhodes has officially unveiled the new All Elite Wrestling wrestling promotion during the latest episode of Being The Elite.

In addition, Cody revealed that All Elite's first show will be titled "Double Or Nothing", with an official announcement regarding the historic event expected on January 8th at the Double or Nothing rally at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida at 5pm.

Soon after the announcement, Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio revealed some key info regarding the promotion;

Jacksonville Jaquars and Fulham FC owner Tony Khan will be the head of the company. He is the son of billionaire Shahid Khan and is a life long wrestling fan.

Cody Rhodes has signed and will be a major part of AEW, with The Young Bucks, who are not yet signed, likely to follow suit in due course. Announcements are expected in the coming days regarding the rest of the talent with deals for several wrestlers already secured on multi-year contracts.

It should be noted that the ad for the Double Or Nothing rally included appearances from Brandi Rhodes, Hangman Page, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky, which likely means they will all be a part of Double Or Nothing and possibly even names AEW have secured as contracted performers.

Multiple TV offers are said to have been forthcoming to the new promotion but AEW have not yet secured anything. Dave notes that TV execs were very impressed by the success and scope of the All In event in September and can see the potential in the fledgling promotion's future.

Despite prior rumours that NJPW would have a working relationship with AEW, nothing is confirmed at time of writing and Dave notes that there's currently no indication on what NJPW's reaction to the promotion will be or how they will proceed.
