AEW Pays Emotional Tribute To PAC (AEW News)

A beautiful, heartbreaking, perfect tribute to Benjamin 'PAC' Satterley.

As the wrestling world continues to pay tribute to Benjamin 'PAC' Satterley, last night's Dynamite was a hugely emotional show dedicated to his memory.

Dynamite opened up with images of PAC on the video wall, with Excalibur the first to pay tribute to PAC. From there, Tony Schiavone was in the ring and cut to an extremely poignant post-All Out promo from Jon Moxley, where Mox - accompanied by his Death Riders - talked about making the most out of every day, of never taking life for granted, and of making sure you're remembered in the way you want to be remembered. As Jon and his group left the shot one by one, the last person to leave was PAC.

When the focus returned to Schiavone, he led a ten-bell salute, as the AEW roster gathered on the entranceway to pay their respects to their fallen brother.

In terms of in-ring action, that ten-bell salute led straight into Jon Moxley coming out to face Orange Cassidy, with Moxley walking past PAC's empty chair. Likewise, Orange Cassidy was understandably emotional as he got ready to lock horns with Moxley. Both men made nods to PAC, including both going for the Brutalizer, and it was ultimately Moxley getting the win the Death Rider. Post-match, Bryan Danielson's music hit, as the American Dragon came to the ring in a PAC t-shirt - a shirt worn by many on the night - and shared an embrace with Moxley.

To attempt to summarise the entire night would be a tough job, but there were various tributes from various wrestlers, all talking about how not only was PAC an exceptional wrestler, but more so how much of an exceptional person Ben was. And there was not a dry eye in the house, be that from those speaking, those in the arena, or those watching at home.

Renee Paquette later read a statement from the Satterley family, addressing their devastation at this loss, but thankful for the love and support they've received from Ben's friends, his fans, and from AEW.

As for the matches, all featured various references to PAC, as Kenny Omega hit the One-Winged Angel to score a win for the Elite over the Don Callis Family; Will Ospreay and Ricochet pulled out a bunch of PAC and Dragon Gate moves before Ospreay won with a stunning Black Arrow; Marina Shafir wore a Newcastle Utd shirt with her sons name on the back, gifted to her by PAC, on her way to the ring, ahead of winning a six-woman tag match for her team by using the Brutalizer; and Bryan Danielson made a surprise return to the ring to team with the Death Riders against Josh Alexander, Jake Doyle, Mark Davis, Lance Archer, and the likewise returning Wardlow, with Daniel Garcia pinning Doyle after Claudio Castagnoli had stomped him. We also had Swerve Strickland and the New Level leave their AEW Trios Titles in the ring in honour of PAC at one point, too.

To close out this special edition of Dynamite, a beautiful video package, soundtracked by I Know How to Speak by Manchester Orchestra, played as the final shot of the night was PAC's vacant steel chair, spotlighted and with the Death Riders standing alongside it.

Again, it's hard to do justice to such a special, emotional, moving, heartbreaking episode of Dynamite. You never, ever wish for an episode like this to have to take place, but the way this was handled was perfect in every way.

For those looking to pay their own tribute to PAC, AEW has released two new PAC t-shirts (PAC Forever and Long Live the Bastard), as seen worn by many of the AEW roster on last night's broadcast. All sales will go to the Satterley family.

Benjamin 'PAC' Satterley, may he rest well.
