AEW Planning To Bring This Old TNA/WWE Gimmick Back?

An AEW wrestler has teased that one of his old gimmicks is on the comeback trail.

Broken Matt Hardy

Matt Hardy's old 'Broken' character could be set for a reprise on AEW TV soon.

During a recent episode of his podcast, Matt answered fan questions. One of them asked if people would ever see his 'Broken Universe' again - that's when Hardy said "there's a chance" and pointed to his ongoing storyline with Stokely Hathaway, Ethan Page and The Firm on Dynamite and Rampage.

The Firm owns Matt's AEW contract, but they haven't really done much of interest with him quite yet. Would Hardy rebelling and then returning to his old 'Broken' gimmick be the way to go? It'd certainly revive an erm...broken (ahem) angle that's blighting AEW's product.

The story does need something major to make it more interesting.

Matt has played his 'Broken/Woken' character in both TNA/IMPACT Wrestling and WWE. Vince McMahon never fully embraced the gimmick, but he did let Hardy explore the silliest sides of it during his feud opposite Bray Wyatt several years back.

The former WWE boss had to put his own stamp on it by changing 'Broken' to 'Woken', of course.

Keep your eyes peeled for more 'Broken' brilliance in AEW.
