AEW "Secrecy" Over MJF's Injury Status
Some aspects of MJF's AEW recovery are progressing slower than expected.
MJF is being as "secretive as possible" regarding his injury status in AEW.
Dave Meltzer wrote as much in the 25 March Wrestling Observer Newsletter, stating that the former World Champion remains out of action due to "significant" shoulder issues. Rather than divulging details, the 28-year-old is keeping his cards close to his chest.
Elsewhere, during a Q&A for Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp stated that with MJF still healing, "some things were progressing slower than they anticipated." Nonetheless, MJF's time off from AEW had been planned for anyway. Within a month prior to December's Worlds End pay-per-view, it became clear that the headliner would be taking "a pretty extended amount of time out."
MJF wrestled Samoa Joe on the aforementioned PPV, dropping the AEW World Championship. Prior to this point, the 28-year-old had reportedly been working through myriad injury problems, including the shoulder issues that eventually sidelined him.
Turned on by Adam Cole and the new Undisputed Kingdom stable (completed by Wardlow, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, and Roderick Strong), MJF theoretically has a ready-made feud for his AEW return. For now, it appears impossible to put a timescale on when this may be.
