AEW Signs Tony Nese
The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion is #AllElite.
All Elite Wrestling has reportedly signed Tony Nese.
This is according to Dave Meltzer, who said as much on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. The news comes following a surprise appearance on last week's episode of Dynamite, where Nese was ringside for two World Title Eliminator tournament bouts, with the cameras and announcers acknowledging his presence.
Nese, 36, also worked a match with an enhancement talent at AEW's latest set of Dark tapings on Sunday (24 October).
AEW is yet to give Nese the "X is #AllElite" treatment on Twitter, though this isn't usually done until a wrestler has signed beyond the promotion's "zero" contract tier, which guarantees exclusivity. In some cases, however, the promotion will hold off on the graphic for an extended period, as was the case with Lee Moriarty earlier this month.
Nese had been a free agent since he was released alongside a group of other NXT and 205 Live wrestlers as part of WWE's 25 June cuts. He has since served his full 90-day non-compete clause and worked a handful of indie dates, having worked primarily as a tag wrestler in his final few months with WWE.
