One day after it became clear 'Switchblade' Jay White wasn't heading to WWE after all, AEW scooped the top free agent off the market, debuting the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion on last night's episode of Dynamite.

White returned to the promotion as the show was getting started. Ricky Starks had made his ring entrance for a planned match with rival Juice Robinson when White's music hit, distracting 'Absolute.' As Jay walked out onto the stage, Juice jumped Ricky from behind, with the two-on-one beatdown segment preventing Robinson vs. Starks from truly getting started.

White and Robinson walked up the jump defiantly to close the opener. The duo are linked together as members of Bullet Club, the stable White led prior to his New Japan departure earlier this year.

Speculation on Jay's future had been rife over the past couple of months, with the New Zealander working two 'Loser Leaves...' matches to close his NJPW career in February. WWE had long been his rumoured landing point, though this obviously didn't end up happening.

AEW founder Tony Khan has already given White the Twitter treatment:-

White has made a handful of AEW appearances in the past, with his last showing coming at the AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view in June 2022.
