The cruelly-timed injuries suffered by All Elite Wrestling up-and-comer Darius Martin last month were the result of a car accident.

Following on from Fightful Select's initial report on Darius' latest injury, which came just two months after he had returned from another year-long absence, Martin's AEW rostermate Malakai Black has confirmed new details on the disappointing situation.

Speaking on the Universal Wrestling Podcast, Black claimed that Martin had been involved in a "really nasty car accident." As a result, the Top Flight man now faces around six-to-nine months on the sidelines.

When news of his latest injury broke, Darius was quick to clarify that his issues had nothing to do with professional wrestling. He has since tweeted the following photograph of himself looking extremely banged up:-

A torn ACL suffered in February 2021 had previously put Martin out of action until AEW Dynamite's 2 March 2022 episode, where he finally returned to the ring alongside brother Darius, reprising Top Flight. Now, it looks like Darius will have to do as he did during Darius' last absence: progress as a singles wrestler.

All the best to Darius as he recovers.
