Having last wrestled nearly two years ago, AEW's the Blade made his return to action at Better Lovers' Blissmass '25 this past weekend, coming to the aid of the Butcher.

Prior to this weekend, the Blade last wrestled at Alpha-1's Watch The Throne 7 - The Kings Are Back on 4 February 2024, where he picked up a win over Glory Pro favourite Kody Lane.

As for the reason behind the Blade's absence from the ring, he revealed in April 2024 that he was dealing with a lower back issue that ultimately resulted in surgery in September of that year.

Where AEW is concerned, the Blade last competed for Tony Khan's promotion on a January 2024 episode of AEW Rampage, where he and the Butcher teamed with Kip Sabian in a loss to the Hardys and Mark Briscoe. To highlight how much time has passed between now and then, Rampage has been cancelled for nearly a year by this point, and Matt and Jeff Hardy are approaching two years since their final respective matches under the All Elite banner and have added another two runs as TNA Tag Team Champions and a run as NXT Tag Team Champions to their extensive résumé.

It remains to be seen if and when the Butcher and the Blade return to AEW television, but the tandem always makes for a fun time whenever they've previously mixed it up in the company's tag team ranks.
