8. Colt Cabana

The man has been a breakout success in AEW ever since debuting at the start of March. Fans already familiar with him absolutely love him, and he's gotten himself immediately over with everyone who wasn't. He's likable, he's funny, his style is unlike anyone else on the roster, he is immediate heat for whoever screws him out of his first-round match.

It'll no doubt disappoint many viewers to see him offered up as a sacrificial lamb like this, but Cabana is not yet a man for the latter stages of tournaments or conversations about future championships. In fact, with his smart head for business and ability to get virtually anything over, he likely never will be. The only time a shiny belt is going to do anything for him is if it's holding up a pair of absurd, garish trousers.

But crucially, Cabana can still work. AEW are going to want to set a standard of quality matches in this tournament, and even if old CC is there purely to get a few poppers out of the TV viewership before being rolled up, he'll not look out of his depth against whichever more technical opponent he'll be putting over.
