All Elite Wrestling are currently readying for their televised debut on TNT on Wednesday 2 October, and while we don't even know what the show's going to be called yet, they've already announced a singles bout pitting Cody against Sammy Guevara, as well as Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks vs. Chris Jericho and two mystery partners.

Now, the promotion have announced that they will crown their first-ever Women's World Champion during the broadcast.

Sports Illustrated's Justin Barrasso broke the news last night. AEW Chief Brand Officer Brandi Rhodes confirmed it, saying that "for many female wrestlers, the opportunity to fight for the title represents the crowning achievement of their careers. The AEW Women's Championship will be the cornerstone of the women's division."

Rhodes added the following: "the championship will be treated with the utmost respect and prestige. We hope to inspire future female wrestlers to dream of holding such a meaningful title."

There's currently no word on how AEW will name the wrestlers who'll contest the belt, though they aren't exactly short of talent, with the likes of Britt Baker, Kylie Rae, Awesome Kong, Allie, and Nyla Rose all signed.
