AEW Women's Division: 5 Reasons To Be Cheerful
1. Britt Baker - Heel Supreme
It's not immediately obvious who AEW have in mind to replace Hikaru Shida as champion, but Britt Baker is looking more likely every passing week.
One half of the first ever women's match to main-event Dynamite, Britt Baker has come on leaps and bounds since the founding of Tony Khan's promotion. Starting life in AEW as an insipid babyface, Baker found her calling as a heel and hasn't looked back.
Like all the best bad guys, the charismatic dentist has some justification for her attitude. There's nothing gimmicked about her doctorate - Britt Baker really is a qualified dentist, alongside being a successful professional wrestler. That is genuinely impressive, but Baker's insufferably smug attitude and self-proclaimed "role model" status make it impossible to "root" for her. (Badoom-tsh).
There is nothing likeable about Baker's character - she cheats, she's vicious in attack but cowardly in defense, and she treats her faithful companion Rebel like s**t. And that is why she's brilliant.
Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. (as she insists people call her) is one of the most genuinely hateful characters in wrestling today. Baker would be the perfect heel champion, and whoever beat her would be set up as the biggest babyface in the company.
