AEW World Title Tournament Semi-Finals Confirmed
Who moved one step closer to Full Gear on last night's Dynamite?
AEW's World Title Eliminator Tournament kicked off on last night's episode of Dynamite, with the promotion holding the entire first round across the show's two hours.
The tourney's first bout saw Wardlow overcome Jungle Boy in the first round, having looked better than ever between the ropes, putting the smaller, faster man away with two F10's. Later, Kenny Omega squashed poor Sonny Kiss in under 10 seconds. 'The Cleaner' was originally booked to face Joey Janela, though 'The Bad Boy' was forced to pull out after coming into contact with somebody who has tested positive for COVID-19, meaning his tag team partner took the spot.
Brothers and tag team partners Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero M then contested a brutal clash that saw Penta struggle with the idea of hurting his own flesh and blood enough to win, leading to his demise. Finally, Hangman Page bested Colt Cabana despite The Dark Order's ringside coaching.
Omega meets Fenix in the first semi-final, while Page will wrestle Wardlow. The winners advance to the finals at Full Gear.
Whoever takes the tournament will get an AEW World Title shot against either Jon Moxley or Eddie Kingston, who challenges for the belt at the pay-per-view.
