All Elite Wrestling's Anna Jay will miss 6-12 months of action after suffering what sounds like a severe shoulder injury.

The promotion announced this before last night's AEW Women's World Title Eliminator Tournament show, on which Jay was scheduled to wrestle Dr. Britt Baker DMD. Her replacement, Madi Wrenkowski, ended up losing to Baker in a few short minutes:-

Though Jay hasn't wrestled since facing Alex Gracia on the 12 January episode of AEW Dark, she has maintained a steady onscreen presence by accompanying tag team partner Tay Conti to ringside for the Brazilian's bouts. AEW pulling her from tournament advertisements yesterday afternoon led to speculation on her status - and the injury confirmation cleared this up soon after.

Per Fightful Select, Jay was actually injured over a month ago. The problem prompted AEW to change a set of Dark tapings she was presumably scheduled to compete on, with the promotion holding off on announcing the injury out of hope that it wouldn't end up being too severe. Unfortunately, it is severe, and Jay now faces up to a year on the sidelines.

All the best to Anna in her recovery.
