AEW's Buddy Matthews Makes Hilarious Observation About WWE Raw Segment

Two relationships - one real, one storyline - intersect for one good joke.

There are rare instances where a lot of different situations intersect perfectly, but we got a pitch-perfect one on WWE Raw last night.

Rhea Ripley returned to Raw after a near-two-month absence and helped her Judgment Day stablemates lure Rey Mysterio into a trap. She interrupted the Mysterios' backstage celebration of Rey's 20th anniversary since his WWE debut. Rey's daughter Aalyah confronted Ripley, who simply piefaced her and shoved her aside.

This got a hilarious reaction out of Buddy Matthews, who is currently dating Ripley, and who also was involved in a questionable romantic storyline with then-19-year-old Aalyah during the ThunderDome Era in late 2020:

This carries the extra subtext of the infamous 2005 "custody of Dominik" match between Rey and Eddie Guerrero, when Eddie alleged that Rey's son was really his, and they had a ladder match literally for custody of Mysterio's son (and current tag partner).

There were rumors earlier this year about Aalyah training and the possibility that she could get into the family business, but nothing has surfaced in recent months.
