AEW's Cody only plans on wrestling for another five years before calling it a day.

This is according to 'The American Nightmare' himself in a new interview with PWInsider, stating that he wants to spend his remaining time in the sport honing his skill between the ropes.

"I'm only going to be doing this for five more years and for the next five years, I really want to carve out that bell-to-bell aspect of what I was able to do," Cody said. "I've always been very confident in myself in the ring and I try not to be overly confident, but we're dealing with different athletes now and we're drawing from all walks of life in terms of the wrestling world."

Cody considers his ongoing TNT Title open challenge series an important part of this, calling it an "open mic" for him and what he wants to do next, highlighting the importance of working with a diverse range of performers.

This week's TNT Championship match saw Cody mount a successful defence against independent veteran Eddie Kingston. 'The Nightmare' is currently set to put the gold on the line against another indie talent next week.
