Hikaru Shida is heading back to Japan in February.

The former AEW Women's World Champion tweeted the news earlier today, announcing that she will be participating in the MAKAI GENESIS ReBOOT show on 4 February, reprising her old Princess Tsuru character. The event takes place at Tokyo's Kameari Lirio Hall - and tickets are now on sale.

MAKAI is a YouTube series rather than a wrestling promotion. It stars Shida, and aims to combine wrestling, music, and theatre.

Back in January, Shida tweeted that one of her goals for 2021 was to restart MAKAI. She can now ticket that item off her list - albeit in February.

Shida last competed in Japan earlier this year, when she returned home to help work on the Japanese bracket of AEW's Women's World Title Eliminator tournament. While there, Hikaru worked a well-received bout pitting eliminated tourney participants Mei Suruga, Rin Kadokura, and herself against Emi Sakura, Maki Itoh, and VENY.

Recently eliminated from the TBS Title Tournament after a defeat to Nyla Rose, Shida currently has a feud with Serena Deeb bubbling away. Deeb's focused assaults on Shida's knee over the past few months have opened a score that needs settling.
