AEW's Jake Roberts Suffering From Chronic Lung Disease
Awful news for the wrestling legend.
Speaking on the Nothing Beats Experience podcast, Jake 'The Snake' Roberts has revealed that he is suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Roberts "went down with this thing" the night after his AEW managerial client, Lance Archer, tested positive for COVID-19. He said that the promotion "actually care about us as athletes and get us the help we need," though all he wants to do is "get out there and just do what I do."
Jake originally thought that he, too, was suffering from COVID before the lung problem was diagnosed. "It's hereditary stuff," he said, "not your happy camper stuff." The legend added that his cigarette smoking habit had made the condition worse.
"When I don't get the right amount of oxygen into my blood, if I talk for 20 seconds, I'm done," Roberts added. "I can't go anymore. This is something I'm going to have to work with for the rest of my life."
Roberts remains a constant presence by Archer's side on AEW television, though recent appearances have seen Lance doing a lot more talking for himself, rather than relying on his manager.
WhatCulture wishes Jake all the best in his battle with this condition.
