AEW's Jim Ross Says Old-School Peers Need To "Wake Up"

"They need to realise what year we're in".

Jim Ross said on AEW Dynamite's post-show that some of his old-school pals from wrestling's past need to "wake up" and start moving with the times.

Strong words.

JR specifically noted that some of his friends aren't keen on characters like Sonny Kiss or Joey Janela, but he doesn't think that should hold them back in 2020. The new-ish tag-team has shown good chemistry together during recent months on AEW Dark, and Ross thinks they deserve a chance to do things their way.

"Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela are getting a great deal of positive feedback (social media-wise) for their tag-team efforts and I couldn’t be happier. I like both guys a lot; they’re both charismatic as hell and they were given an opportunity that I believe they both deserve".

That's what Jim had to say on the matter. He later added the following.

"Who knows how good Sonny Kiss and Janela might be? I see both of them as being very unselfish and complementing the other".

JR's concern is clearly more that Kiss and Janela continue developing as talents rather than focusing on any frosty feedback from the old guard.
