AEW's Mark Henry Teases "Cesaro Sighting"
AEW man states Claudio Castagnoli WILL show back up in wrestling...
Claudio Castagnoli will return to professional wrestling - but not just yet.
This is according to Mark Henry, who, on Saturday 9 April's episode of Busted Open Radio, commented that even though it isn't going to happen "right now", there'll be a "Cesaro sighting" at some point (h/t SEScoops). The AEW announcer, coach, and talent scout added that when Castagnoli comes back to the sport, people will say "Holy cow, that's the guy we always wanted to see."
Castagnoli has been a free agent since leaving WWE after the two parties were unable to come to an agreement on a new contract in February 2022. Though the nature of his departure means he isn't bound to a non-compete clause, the 41-year-old is yet to re-emerge in professional wrestling.
The mega-talented Swiss had wrestled for WWE as "Cesaro" (or "Antonio Cesaro" early in his run) since signing there in 2011. His last match for the market leaders came on the 11 February episode of SmackDown.
21 March saw Castagnoli file trademark applications for "CSRO" for a number of purposes, including merchandising and other wrestling activities. The former WWE United States Champion is yet to publically comment on his release.
