Shawn Spears and Cassie Lee are expecting their first child, the couple has announced.

The news came via Lee's Instagram account. The mother-to-be uploaded a video of her revealing her pregnancy to Spears, captioned with "Can't wait to meet you."

An understandable outpouring of love and support followed, which Spears responded to on Twitter:-

Congratulations to the happy parents-to-be!

Spears and Lee have been married since August 2019. Cassie was still with WWE, where she worked as Peyton Royce, at the time, while Spears had been part of AEW since that May's Double Or Nothing pay-per-view.

Shawn is still with AEW, though he hasn't wrestled for the promotion since 25 May and stopped appearing on television as ally MJF's complicated contractual situation escalated. There is currently no word on when Spears might return.

Lee, meanwhile, is out of the sport at the moment, with her and long-time partner Jessie McKay announcing they were stepping away from wrestling indefinitely. "We are excited to start a new chapter in our lives and explore other opportunities that may come our way," said The IInspiration in a joint statement. The former IIconics were under IMPACT Wrestling contract at the time of the announcement.
