AJ Lee DONE With WWE (WWE News)

WWE creative has nothing for AJ Lee right now, but some internally remain hope she'll return.

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select has reported that AJ Lee is done with WWE, at least for now. Lee returned with a bang on the 5 September 2025 episode of SmackDown, and she went on to become Women's Intercontinental Champion. AJ then dropped that gold to main rival Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42.

Now, sources within the company tell WrestleVotes/Fightful that Lee's "work there is done for now".

There are no current plans on the table for further matches or storylines involving her, but some within WWE remain hopeful that AJ will launch another comeback in time for SummerSlam this August. If so, then it'd be interesting to find out what the writers have in mind for her.

Lee vs. Lynch wouldn't fly again, so it'd need to be something fresh and exciting. Maybe AJ could go after some of the titles on offer over on the SmackDown side? A reign as Women's United States Champ isn't out of the question, but it's unlikely that WWE would want to put the main Women's Title or Women's World Championship on her at this stage - Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan have those belts locked down.

Assuming Lee does return in time for SummerSlam, then she has a good few months to chill away from the spotlight. Before walking through the exit doors, AJ posted an emotional tribute to Becky and others on the roster via social media. She thanked them for everything since September, and wanted to put over how hardworking the women's locker room is.
