WWE Hall Of Famer and bonafide pro wrestling legend AJ Styles thinks it'd be for the best if some workers under the company banner followed this simple rule: "Shut up and do the job". AJ appeared as a guest with Cody Rhodes on the latter's 'What Do You Wanna Talk About?' show, and he was rather passionate about the push/pull battle between roster and creative team.

According to the recently-retired Styles, it's important for wrestlers to chip in with ideas of their own, but he thinks they should stay silent unless they "have a better idea" to share with the writing team. If that's the case, then great - pitching your own stuff isn't a problem. It's those who bring nothing to the table creatively but then get all bent out of shape about what they're asked to do on TV that AJ has a problem with.

"Don’t complain until you have the better idea. Don’t say anything you got. Nothing. It may suck, but since you didn’t come up with anything else, shut up and do the job. It’s the writer’s job to come up with whatever storyline they want to, and it’s my job to do what they have laid out. Yeah, and perform like that’s my job", he told Cody.

AJ also pointed out that firing out pitch after pitch is all well and good, but that doesn't necessarily mean the creative squad will go with anything a worker suggests to them. It's a balancing act, and Styles very much believes that the onus is on the worker to make the best of what's written for them.
