Alberto Del Rio Sidelined From WWE With Back Injury
The WWE roster injury curse continues.
It seems like lately, each new day brings another injury for WWE. Today is no exception, as word has started to make the rounds that Alberto Del Rio is wrestling through a lower back injury, according to a report from PWInsider. Del Rio has not wrestled for WWE since last Sunday's Royal Rumble event, and it would appear that the back injury is the reason why. Del Rio pulled double-duty during the Rumble, first losing the U.S. Championship belt to Kalisto in a singles match early in the show, then wrestling in the Rumble match itself later on. Del Rio did appear on Monday's RAW broadcast, accompanying his League Of Nations partners Rusev and Sheamus to the ring for their tag team match. After the show was over, Del Rio apparently went home for the week to recuperate. He did not appear in front of the crowd during the SmackDown television tapings on Tuesday night, and he also was not backstage at the show. Del Rio is advertised for house shows this weekend in Tennessee and Mississippi. WWE always has a "card subject to change" disclaimer on all of their house show advertisements, so it will be interesting to see if Del Rio is pulled from the shows at the last minute. As of this writing, he is still being advertised on WWE.com as appearing at the shows.
