Aleister Black INJURED - Confirmed Out Of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 Main Event
The former NXT Champion's injury is a LOT worse than first thought.
One week after undergoing surgery for an injury sustained at a recent house show, Aleister Black has been pulled from next Saturday's NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 main event.
Though WWE are yet to announce this themselves, PW Insider claim sources have informed them that Black will not be able to compete in a scheduled Triple Threat with NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano, leaving the main event in limbo.
There's no word on how WWE will adjust the card. Switching to a third Gargano vs. Ciampa singles bout seems likely, though that'd mean the warring duo headlining three TakeOvers in a row.
Black's injury was underestimated last week, with several outlets suggesting he may have been able to work through it at TakeOver. Dave Meltzer debunked this yesterday afternoon, claiming that Aleister's groin problem was a lot worse than was originally reported, which is backed up by PW Insider's confirmation that he'll miss the event.
Last night's NXT closed with an angle in which William Regal found Black unconscious in the parking lot. This was presumably done to cover the injury, and we can likely expect a formal TakeOver announcement on or before next Wednesday's episode.
