Alexa Bliss Removed From WWE Money In The Bank 2019 For Medical Reasons
Nikki Cross replaces 'The Goddess of WWE' in the women's ladder match.
Alexa Bliss will NOT be wrestling in this year's women's Money In The Bank ladder match.
WWE.com broke the disappointing news last night, claiming that 'The Goddess' was "not medically cleared to compete this Sunday." The former Raw and SmackDown Women's Champion was pulled from the bout, having confirmed herself as a participant a few weeks ago, and has now been replaced by Nikki Cross:-
Cross came to Bliss' aid on this week's Raw, replacing her in a match with Dana Brooke, Naomi, and Natalya when Alexa "lost her gear." Given that Bliss hasn't wrestled since 29 April, the aforementioned medical reasons were almost certainly the cause, and now, PW Insider are reporting concussion issues.
This is worrying. A concussion suffered while wrestling Ronda Rousey at Hell In A Cell 2018 kept her sidelined for four months, forcing Alexa to pull out of an Evolution tag match against Trish Stratus and Lita. She has barely wrestled since returning at Royal Rumble 2019, and WWE are famously dicey when it comes to issues like this - as they should be.
Let's hope that Bliss' latest concussion isn't too bad and that she's able to mount a full return before long.
