All 10 WWE PPVs John Cena Has Missed In The Last Decade
10. No Mercy 2007
John Cena's first extended absence from WWE came in the final few months of 2007 when he suffered a torn pectoral muscle on the October 1st episode of Raw (while performing a routine hiptoss to Ken Kennedy). Originally, he was scheduled to defend the WWE Championship against Randy Orton that Sunday in a Last Man Standing match, but as a result of the injury, Cena was stripped of the strap. Instead, Orton was awarded the vacant title by Mr. McMahon at the start of the show only to lose it moments later in an impromptu match against Triple H. He'd ultimately regain the gold later in the night by beating The Game in a grueling Last Man Standing match. I guess we'll never know if Orton was planned to win the championship from Cena that night, but either way, Cena's injury allowed The Apex Predator to solidify himself as the face of Monday nights for the next several months. The Age of Orton had only just begun.
