Andrade El Idolo Rejected AEW Plan Ahead Of Collision Return
Andrade El Idolo didn't want to do THIS segment for AEW recently...
Absent AEW star Andrade El Idolo recently turned down the opportunity to appear in a backstage segment for the promotion.
Fightful Select reports that Andrade's road back to AEW has featured "some speed bumps", with the 33-year-old not wanting to appear in a segment on the 10 May episode of Dynamite, despite being at the tapings.
The report states that like Miro and Thunder Rosa, who both did this on the show, Andrade was to be featured in a backstage scene walking into company founder and CEO Tony Khan's office. There's no word on why El Idolo didn't want to participate.
Andrade was at Dynamite the following week as well, filming a short segment for social media. His name was then announced as part of the big Collision reveal, featuring alongside such wrestlers as Thunder Rosa, Powerhouse Hobbs, and now CM Punk (whose name was pulled from the original announcement).
Injured since October 2022, Andrade is believed to be close to an in-ring return. Sources close to the former La Sombra have indicated that he isn't physically ready to compete yet, though he is currently being advertised for a lucha libre event at Olimpico Laguna Arena on 15 June.
