The report states that "the door remains open" should AEW and Pillman Jr. wish to work with one another in the future.

The 29-year-old's profile has already been removed from AEW's official roster page.

Brian had not wrestled for AEW since 13 May, when he and Brock Anderson lost to Colten and Austin Gunn on a House Rules show. Since then, Pillman Jr. has competed exclusively on the indies, appearing for such companies as NSW, BOTB, and AML.

The son of iconic WCW and WWF star Brian Pillman, Jr. first appeared for AEW in May 2019, appearing in a battle royal at the inaugural Double Or Nothing. Regular appearances followed in 2020, with Pillman aligned with fellow newcomer Griff Garrison, becoming The Varsity Blonds. Julia Hart later joined the tag team - and Pillman Jr. signed a full-time deal with AEW in July 2021.

Pillman Jr.'s last televised appearance for AEW was a defeat to Swerve Strickland taped for Rampage on 1 February. He and Garrison last teamed in October 2022.
