WWE has announced the released Sunny "Akam" Dhinsa and Gzim "Rezar" Selmani, better known as the tag-team AOP (Authors of Pain) via a statement on its company website.

WWE has come to terms on the release of Akam and Rezar (AOP). We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

The tag-team had been absent from WWE programming for some time after Rezar suffered an injury that kept him off television. Subsequent plans for the duo's return was scrapped due to the ongoing global crisis. Before their release, AOP were teamed with Seth Rollins as members of his stable.

Prior to joining WWE, both Dhinsa and Selmani had extensive experience in combat sports. Dhinsa was a three-time Canadian national freestyle wrestling champion, a gold medalist at the 2009 Canada Summer Games and a silver medalist at the 2011 Pan American Games. Selmani was a mixed martial artist with a 6-2 professional record, competing for Final Fight Championships (FFC) and Bellator MMA.

Akam and Rezar had both been with WWE since 2015, and made their television debuts on NXT in 2016. During their run in WWE, they were crowned both NXT Tag Team Champions and RAW Tag Team Champions.
