As The CW’s Arrow gets ready to wind down later this year, Emerald Archer star Stephen Amell has landed his next project.

Courtesy of Deadline, Amell has signed on to headline Starz’s upcoming wrestling-driven drama Heels.

Heels has already been approved for an eight-episode season and will focus on two brothers who are desperately trying to make an independent wrestling promotion work in a close-knit Georgia community.

Amell will play the role of a heel in the wrestling company, with him battling his brother as they look to protect and defend their father’s legacy.

Written by Community’s Michael Waldron and with The Stanford Prison Experiment’s Kyle Patrick Alvarez directing, Heels has actually been pitched for years – Amell’s involvement the key to finally getting the series green-lit.

This isn’t Stephen Amell’s first involvement with the wrestling industry, however, with him having competed in matches for both WWE and AEW – most recently losing to Christopher Daniels at AEW’s All In PPV.

AEW’s Cody Rhodes has previously wrestled Amell and has also guest-starred as Derek Sampson in Arrow, and it appears Cody is open to joining the Canadian in Heels.

Survivor’s Remorse’s Mike O’Malley will serve as showrunner on Heels.
