AWOL AEW Star Tells Fans "Don't Hold Your Breath" On Return Rumours
This AWOL AEW wrestler isn't in a hurry to make a company comeback in 2023.
Shawn Spears has told fans "don't hold your breath" over a possible return to AEW TV.
The ex-Pinnacle member quoted a fan tweet asking where he'd been lately; replying, Spears said he's "not going there anytime soon". This suggests that he won't be spotted on Dynamite or Rampage over the next few months, and actually hints at a bigger problem between the wrestler and AEW management.
Is this the end of the road for Spears? If so, could he snag a spot in Triple H's remodelled WWE now that Vince McMahon isn't the one calling the shots there? That's all guesswork, of course. For now, all that's known is that Shawn won't be appearing on AEW telly imminently.
Spears' partner Cassie Lee/Peyton Royce gave birth to the couple's first child in August 2022, and he last wrestled for AEW on the 14 October episode of Rampage. There, Shawn teamed with FTR to defeat The Embassy in six-man tag action.
Before that, Spears' latest match had been a steel cage loss to old pal Wardlow on the 25 May Dynamite. You heard the man - "don't hold your breath" on more.
