Backstage Latest On WWE Legend LEAVING For AEW (WWE News)
Will Bayley depart for AEW, or do WWE top brass have something...special in mind for her?
False Finish posted on X to report that internal sources tell them veteran female star Bayley "has already re-signed [with WWE] and will be more involved with the company" going forwards. Even more interestingly, the site also said that the stalwart women's division staple will be used as more than just onscreen talent for the foreseeable.
This comes in the wake of reports by The Wrestling Observer (via PWInsider) on creative pitches made behind the scenes for Bayley on Raw. The Observer noted that Bayley "is expected to return soon, likely within the next few weeks".
She hasn't been seen on television since losing to ex-tag partner Lyra Valkyria on the 18 July edition of Saturday Night's Main Event. Since then, Bayley has only worked a couple of non-televised house show dates in California on 25 and 26 July - both were Triple Threats vs. Valkyria and then-Women's Intercontinental Champion Sol Ruca.
Observer chief Dave Meltzer had previously opined that WWE wouldn't be mentioning Bayley at all on camera if she was off to AEW. There had been heavy rumours that the vet would let her contract tick down with the market leader then join good pal Mercedes Mone under Tony Khan's banner, but that now looks unlikely.
Maybe it was unlikely all along. Only Bayley knows how close she came to leaving WWE.
False Finish reporting that she could play a significant role away from the ring is intriguing too. Bayley clearly has a lot of knowledge to give, and she's openly been holding training camps on her own for a while now anyway.
