Backstage News On Which Hell In A Cell Match Will Air Last
Will a women's match finally main event a pay-per-view?
With Hell in a Cell less than a week away, WWE still doesn't know what match is going to close out the event.
Last night on Raw, Sasha Banks and Charlotte were given a contract signing segment, while Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins were booked as part of the main event and Roman Reigns and Rusev only appeared in backstage promos. That seems to rule out Rusev and Reigns closing out the night, but one never knows with Vince.
Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio says that the word going around is Sasha and Charlotte either have to open the show or be in the main event. The fear is that if they go on second, fans will leave, as Sasha is a Boston native. However, if they go on first they'll likely stay, otherwise they'd end up missing the vast majority of the show.
It seems best to just go all-in at this point and give the women the main event. Roman vs. Rusev has no heat behind it, and Owens vs. Rollins has felt largely like a joke. It would make a bold statement, and set a precedence for future pay-per-views.
Besides that, it has a strong possibility of being a great match. Very few people would complain at this point if WWE just went ahead and ran with it.
