Following previous reports that Adam Cole was due to meet with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon at this past Friday's SmackDown, there's now an update on how said meeting went.

Via Fightful Select, McMahon treated this meeting as a "high priority" affair, with Cole taken directly to Vince's office as soon as he arrived at Tampa's Amalie Arena - the site of this most recent blue brand offering.

Of course, the one-time NXT Champion was meeting with McMahon to discuss his WWE contract situation. With Cole's WWE deal having actually expired in July, the former Undisputed Era leader is currently working under a one-month extension that will see him through until the end of August. After that, as it stands, Adam Cole will become a free agent who will be able to appear in any other wrestling promotion from the day that extension expires.

Fightful reports that WWE higher-ups were told that this Cole/McMahon meeting went extremely well, and that Vince took a major liking to the highly talented star on a personal level.

Additionally, this meeting took place prior to SmackDown starting, and Cole did not stick around for the Smackers broadcast. This chat was actually meant to happen at the prior week's Minnesota-set SmackDown episode, but it made more logistical sense for Cole to make the far shorter trip to Tampa, Florida than head to Minnesota.

It's been made clear to the three-time ROH World Champion that WWE wants him for the main roster should he decide to re-sign with the company, and pitches have made to Cole for moves to both Raw and SmackDown.
