Play-by-play announcer Excalibur has been absent from the last two episodes of AEW Dynamite, pulling himself from the tapings when footage of him using racist terminology in an old Pro Wrestling Guerrilla promo resurfaced last week, sparking speculation on his future with the company.

This week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter has an update on the situation. Dave Meltzer writes that Excalibur will return to the promotion once enough time has elapsed, with sources stating that the masked commentator is currently booked to fly to Jacksonville, Florida, for next week's television tapings.

Plans can change, though it looks like Excalibur will be back for the 12 August episode of Dynamite.

Excalibur's name hasn't been mentioned on AEW television since the controversy was sparked, with Taz taking his place in the announce booth. AEW is yet to issue a statement on the matter.

WWE's Kevin Owens was also featured in the same PWG clip as Excalibur. The comments were made towards indie wrestler Human Tornado, who has since defended both men on social media.

Excalibur has been with AEW since the company's inception, occupying a permanent spot as the group's lead play-by-play announcer, sitting alongside the likes of Taz, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone.
