Kenny Omega's AEW return timetable has become a little more complicated than originally anticipated.
Speaking on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that AEW had originally planned for its former World Champion to return in March. This may no longer be the case, however, with Omega's comeback now up in the air - as Meltzer has heard from Kenny himself.
It was noted that while Omega is currently doing all he can to get back into ring shape, testing positive for COVID-19 a few weeks ago may have been a setback.
Omega has been absent from AEW television since the post-Full Gear episode of Dynamite in November 2021. His physical condition has a hot topic prior to him telling his Elite stablemates he'd be taking time away, with myriad issues including shoulder and knee issues, a hernia, and vertigo reportedly amongst his problems, necessitating multiple surgeries for the 38-year-old.
Prior to this, Omega had pretty much worked non-stop for AEW while also moonlighting in AAA and IMPACT Wrestling as part of his 'Belt Collector' gimmick. The AAA Mega Championship was his last to fall, with Kenny vacating the belt pre-surgery.
